UNGA 80th Session: President Mahama arrives in New York, greeted by excited diaspora

President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in New York to take part in the United Nations General Assembly meetings.
The President, who arrived on Sunday afternoon, September 21, 2025, with his wife, Lordina Mahama, was warmly received by Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, alongside other senior officials.
Among them were the Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Administration, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo; Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Victor Smith, and the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.
A number of Ghanaians living in the United States also gathered at the airport to welcome the president, commending him for the bold reforms that, they said, were beginning to positively impact Ghana’s economy.
