V/R: 6 arrested over ritual killing of 23-year-old at Mafi-Adidome; body reportedly sold for GHS7k

A horrifying account of premeditated murder and ritual activity has rocked Central Tongu District, Volta Region, following the killing of 23-year-old Nelson Anyana at Mafi-Adidome.
According to police investigations, the deceased, who was a resident of Mafi-Adidome, was lured to an isolated area by a woman identified as Augustina Fiawoyife, under the pretext of a meeting. Unknown to Nelson, Fiawoyife, acting on the instructions of her boyfriend, a herbalist named Wisdom Hedidor, had conspired with others to take his life in exchange for a ritual payment.
The chilling sequence began when Madam Comfort Hates, a trader based in Donkorkrom in the Eastern Region, reported to the Mafi Adidome Police on December 17, 2024, that her son Nelson had gone missing after leaving home on December 4 to meet Fiawoyife and never returned.
Investigations uncovered that Fiawoyife was in a romantic relationship with Wisdom Hedidor, who grew increasingly jealous over frequent phone calls between her and the deceased. At the same time, a fetish priest identified as Gblor Noah had approached his associate, Courage Bedzo a kente weaver in Mafi Avakpadome, with a request to supply a human body for ritual purposes, offering a reward in exchange.
Courage Bedzo relayed this request to Wisdom Hedidor, who agreed and proposed that they use Nelson Anyana as the victim. The plan was executed on the evening of December 4, 2024. Fiawoyife lured Nelson to a secluded area near the DC Bungalow at Mafi-Adidome, where Hedidor and Bedzo were lying in wait. As Nelson engaged Fiawoyife in conversation, the two men emerged from hiding and strangled him to death.
Following the murder, the conspirators contacted Gblor Noah, who arrived at the scene with another accomplice, Gblor John, a lotto writer. The group transported the body to Gblorkope, a community in Central Tongu, where ritual rites were allegedly performed using parts of the body. The remaining body parts were reportedly buried in a nearby bush.
Subsequent investigations by the Mafi-Adidome Police led to the arrest of six suspects, including Fiawoyife, Hedidor, Bedzo, Gblor Noah, and Gblor John. The deceased's body was allegedly sold for GHS 7,000 for the purposes of the ritual.
On July 2, 2025, the case was called at the Ho District Court 1, presided over by His Worship Albert Annor Owusu, Esq. All suspects were present but unrepresented by legal counsel. Detective Sergeant Kwadwo Otibu-Gyan, prosecuting on behalf of the Republic, informed the court that investigations were still ongoing, particularly efforts to locate the burial site of the remaining body parts for exhumation and re-interment.
The exhumation exercise took place on Monday, July 7,2025 awaiting, re-interment.
The court did not take the suspects’ pleas and, upon request by the prosecution, remanded them into prison custody to reappear on August 6, 2025.
The gruesome case has sent shockwaves throughout the Central Tongu District, with residents calling for swift justice and intensified efforts by security agencies to crack down on ritual-related crimes. Police investigations are ongoing.
