Vice President, Her Excellency Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman, has called for greater inclusion, dignity, and support for individuals with different abilities, stressing that they deserve to live ordinary and fulfilling lives without unnecessary pressures.

Continuing her message on the importance of respect and support for older persons, the Vice President emphasised that society must also extend compassion and empathy to persons facing illness or living with disabilities.

She explained that true empowerment lies in treating every individual with dignity and ensuring that they are provided with the necessary support systems to thrive.

“People with different abilities must not be defined by their limitations.

They, too, must be allowed to live with dignity, to contribute meaningfully to society, and to enjoy the same respect and opportunities as everyone else,” she said.

Prof. Opoku Agyeman further encouraged communities and institutions to adopt a spirit of hope and encouragement towards such individuals, noting that positivity and support can greatly improve their outlook on life.

Her call reinforces the need for a compassionate and inclusive society that not only values the wisdom of older persons but also ensures that persons with disabilities are fully integrated into national development.
