We’ll make you one of Africa's best – Dep. Min. to GNFS

The Deputy Ministry for the Interior, Naana Eyiah, has said the government is committed to resourcing the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) by providing the personnel with training, necessary equipment, and other logistical support to make it more effective.
According to her, to meet the expectation of the populace, the Service would focus on promoting fire safety, protecting the citizens and property from fire, rescuing people from road traffic accidents, and dealing with other emergencies such as flooding.
Naana Eyiah was speaking at the graduation ceremony of Cadet intake 20 at the GNFS Academy and Training School at James Town in Accra.
She said the ongoing recruitment of 2,000 personnel into the GNFS will go a long way to augmenting the manpower of the Service.
The deputy minister disclosed that the management of GNFS will have a strategic human development plan to direct the manpower needs of the Service since globalisation has led to rapid technological advancement which she said the GNFS cannot be left out of.
She commended the management for being innovative in the delivery of their mandate to the people of Ghana.
She added that the government will continue to support the Service so that it can become one of the best on the continent and the world at large.
Naana Eyiah also commended the government for upgrading facilities at the GNFS Academy and Training School and urged the Acting Chief Fire Officer to consider the quality of his personnel as one of his priorities because they are the pillars of the Service.
She congratulated the new officers for their hard work and determination.
She urged them to take great pride in all the hard work that had brought them this far and help save and protect the lives of the people of Ghana.
