The Minister for Works and Housing, Mr Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, has assured Ghanaians that the government is taking firm steps to tackle the nationwide water crisis.

He gave the assurance during a meeting convened by the Parliamentary Committee on Sanitation and Water Resources with major stakeholders in the sector, including the Ghana Water Company Limited, the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission, community water representatives, and non-governmental organisations.

Discussions centred on identifying practical and sustainable solutions to the persistent water shortages affecting several parts of the country.

The Minister noted that the current challenges stem from longstanding issues, which he said were not adequately addressed by the previous administration.

He stressed, however, that the present government is committed to resolving the crisis and putting in place long-term measures to prevent a recurrence.

He further reassured residents of Teshie-Nungua that repair works on the malfunctioning water treatment plant serving the area are ongoing and are expected to be completed within the next few days.
