A/R: 79-year-old, others jailed for pushing stick into boys anus

A 79-year-old man, Mr Francis Obeng Amoako, and five others at Agogo in the Asante Akim North Constituency of the Ashanti Region were arrested on 12 March 2021, for inserting a stick into the anus of a 16-year-old boy suspected of stealing from a shop belonging to one of them.
The six people, including the 79-year-old man, allegedly grabbed the teenage boy, tied both hands at his back, tied his legs and beat him mercilessly after which they removed his boxer shorts and forcibly inserted a stick into his anus and took a video of the incident.
The District Police Command of Agogo took immediate action on the viral video and was able to identify and arrest six people to assist with the investigation.
The accused persons were Mr Francis Obeng Amoako, 79; Akwasi Marfo (Boat), 24; Boakye Dankwah, 65; Osei Bonsu, 53; Prince Asadu, 26; and 30-year-old, Obeng Mensah.
On February 2, 2023, the Juaso Circuit Court presided over by Her Honour Nana Asantewaa Attakora, freed two of the accused, namely; Obeng Mensah and Osei Bonsu on the reason that although they were captured in the video, investigations proved that they did not take part in the act.
The remaining four were handed varying degrees of jail sentences.
Mr Francis Obeng Amoako (now 80) was sentenced to a year in jail due to his age and health condition, but two others, Akwasi Marfo (Boat) and Prince Asadu were handed five-year prison terms for abetment to the act.
Lastly, Mr Boakye Dankwah has been slapped with a six-month prison sentence for hitting the boy's head with his keys but failed to ask them to stop the commission of the crime.
The victim (name withheld) is in good health condition.
