IGP paid glowing tribute to the slain police officer

The Ghana Police Service has announced that four individuals of interest have been arrested in connection with the Ablekuma bullion van robbery, including one suspect apprehended over the weekend.

 

All four are currently in police custody, assisting with the ongoing investigation into the incident.

The robbery resulted in the tragic death of Police officer Lance Corporal Callistus Amoah, who was on duty at the time.

In honor of Lance Corporal Amoah, a pre-burial service was held at the St. George's Catholic Church, located at the National Police Training School (NPTS) in Tesano, Accra.

The service took place on Friday, 14th July 2023, and was attended by members of the law enforcement agency.

During the solemn ceremony, Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, delivered a tribute expressing the deep sorrow and grief felt by the entire Police Service due to the loss of Lance Corporal Amoah.

It was revealed that Lance Corporal Amoah joined the Ghana Police Service as a General Recruit on 3rd January 2017. After undergoing rigorous training at the Police Public Safety Training School (PPSTS) in Pwalugu, Upper East Region, he successfully completed his training on 6th September 2017, earning the rank of General Constable.

Throughout his career, Lance Corporal Amoah served solely at the National Protection Unit (NPU) in the Greater Accra Region. He achieved a promotion to the rank of Lance Corporal on 1st January 2022, which he held until his untimely demise on 22nd June 2023, when he was shot by the robbers during the bullion van robbery.

The investigation into the Ablekuma bullion van robbery continues as the police work to gather more evidence and bring those responsible to justice. The loss of Lance Corporal Callistus Amoah has deeply impacted the Ghana Police Service, and his memory will be cherished and honored by his fellow officers and the community he served.
