Aisha Huang, widely known as a galamsey kingpin, has refuted any participation in mining activities or providing support for mining operations during her criminal trial.

Huang, who illegally returned to Ghana after her deportation in 2018, stands accused of engaging in illegal mining, commonly referred to as galamsey, without a valid licence.

The prosecution presented eleven witnesses who testified to Huang's alleged involvement in illegal mining, specifically in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region.

However, Huang vehemently denies these accusations, asserting that her company has never been involved in mining activities and lacks the necessary mining license.

She contends that the evidence put forth by the prosecution is false.

In a separate development, Huang Lei, the son of Aisha Huang, recently faced legal repercussions. In March 2023, Huang Lei pleaded guilty to charges of overstaying his permit in Ghana, possession of ammunition without lawful authority, and possession of forged official documents.

His plea came after initially pleading not guilty alongside other Chinese nationals arrested for similar offenses in November of the previous year.

On December 16, 2022, Huang Lei's legal counsel revealed their intention to change his plea to guilty. Subsequently, before Justice Comfort Tasiame at criminal court 4, Huang Lei admitted guilt and received a fine of GH¢10,800. The court also ordered his deportation.

The ongoing trial of Aisha Huang continues, with the defendant maintaining her innocence.
