Apenkwa: Police chases robbers who shot, robbed woman of GHS29K
The Accra Regional Police Command has launched investigations into the robbery of some GHS29,000 belonging to a woman who had just cashed the amount from a bank.
The daylight robbery by two men on a motorbike on Monday, 20 September 2021, resulted in the shooting of the 33-year-old victim.
She is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
In a statement, the police said it “found evidence that a gunshot had been fired at the scene of the crime”.
“The robbers succeeded in taking away an amount of GHS 29,000 from the victim,” the police statement said.
Apart from the victim whose money was stolen, a bystander also sustained gunshot wounds and was sent to the hospital.
The police urged members of the general public “to remain calm” and further assured “its relentless commitment to ensuring the arrest of the perpetrators of this crime in the shortest possible time, as investigations into the case is ongoing”.
The police further appealed for support from the general public to provide relevant information that could lead to the arrest of the robbers.
