Central University suspends SRC Week activities following NACOC arrests

Central University has suspended all remaining Students’ Representative Council (SRC) Week activities following reports that five individuals are in the custody of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC).

In a statement, the university said it had become aware of media reports concerning the individuals, whose arrest is linked to an incident that reportedly occurred during a programme associated with the SRC Week celebrations.

Management said it is engaging with NACOC and other relevant authorities to establish the facts and obtain verified information regarding the matter.

The university noted that investigations are ongoing and stressed the need to avoid speculation while allowing due process to take its course.

As a precautionary measure and to maintain order and safety on campus, the institution announced the suspension of all remaining SRC Week activities pending a review of the circumstances surrounding the incident and existing event management protocols.

Central University said it remains committed to providing a safe and conducive learning environment while upholding standards of discipline, responsibility and integrity.

Management also assured students, staff, parents, alumni and the public that it is cooperating fully with the relevant authorities as efforts continue to establish the facts surrounding the case.
