The Accra Circuit Court has remanded Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, into police custody for two weeks.

The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was arrested on Monday, September 8, 2025, by the Ghana Police Service over allegations of “offensive conduct conducive to the breach of public peace.”

He has remained in custody since his arrest.

At Friday’s hearing, the court ruled that the remand would give prosecutors more time to advance investigations into the case.

Although the specific details of the charges have not yet been disclosed, the case has generated widespread national attention due to Abronye’s influential position within the NPP and his reputation for outspoken political commentary.

The court has scheduled his next appearance for September 26, 2025, when prosecutors are expected to provide an update on the progress of their investigations.
