The suspect in the grips of police

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has discovered three bodies behind the shrine of a fetish priest at Sakyikrom, a village near Adeiso in the Eastern Region, following a frantic search for the whereabouts of a pensioner who went missing in January this year.

The three bodies — two men and a woman — who were alleged to have been gruesomely murdered by the fetish priest and his assistant, include the missing pensioner, aged about 64, who went missing from his residence at Kasoa on January 10, 2020.

The fetish priest, known as Power One, aged 40, and his assistant whose name was given only as Famous, aged 36, led the police to the village to exhume the bodies following their arrest on April 30.

Report

According to a police source, on January 15, 2020, the wife of the pensioner reported to the police that her husband left home on January 10, 2020 and all efforts to trace his whereabouts had proven futile.

The police launched a full-scale investigation to find the missing pensioner’s whereabouts and realised that the last call he made was to an area near Adeiso so the police went to the area and managed to locate the receiver who happens to be the fetish priest.

Upon interrogation, he denied any knowledge about the missing man, but the police arrested him and his assistant and took them to the CID headquarters in Accra, and following investigations they broke down and confessed to the police that they killed and buried him at a spot behind the shrine.

CID team

The source said on Thursday, April 30, 2020, the Director-General of the CID, Commissioner of Police Ken Yeboah, led a team of police investigators, together with the two suspects, to the spot where they buried the pensioner to exhume the body.

After the exhumation of the pensioner, the team decided to dig further, and that was how they retrieved the bodies of another man and a woman.
The two are yet to be identified.

Further search within the shrine led to the retrieval of a fresh human head, skulls and other human parts tied in a polythene bag.

The bodies of the three persons have been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue awaiting autopsy, while investigations continue.
