Police officer killed during armed robbery on Zebilla–Widnaba road
The Upper East Regional Police Command has launched an investigation following a deadly armed robbery along the Zebilla–Widnaba road in the Bawku Division.
Preliminary reports indicate that on Sunday, February 8, 2026, two police officers traveling towards Zebilla encountered the robbery in progress. The assailants opened fire, fatally wounding one officer.
The injured officer was rushed to Bolgatanga Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His body has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.
Authorities have launched a special operation to identify and apprehend those responsible, ensuring they face the full force of the law.
