Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu to appear in US Court as extradition to Ghana begins
Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu is scheduled to appear before a court in the United States on January 21, as extradition proceedings to Ghana formally commence.
The development was confirmed by Ghana’s Ambassador, Victor Smith, who indicated that the court appearance marks a key step in efforts to return the former public official to Ghana to face charges.
Ms Tamakloe-Attionu, a former Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), is wanted by Ghanaian authorities in connection with alleged financial misconduct during her tenure.
According to the Ambassador, Ghana has completed the necessary diplomatic and legal processes required under the extradition agreement between Ghana and the United States, paving the way for the US judicial system to begin hearings on the request.
He noted that while the extradition process may take time, the government remains committed to ensuring accountability and the rule of law.
The case has attracted public attention as part of ongoing efforts by Ghanaian authorities to pursue alleged corruption cases involving former public officials.
