Three Indian nationals arrested in Anyinam for illegal gold trading

Three Indian nationals have been arrested in Anyinam, Eastern Region, for their alleged involvement in illegal gold trading activities.
The arrest was the result of a joint operation conducted by the Ghana Gold Board and National Security.
During the operation, officials seized several gold bars, large sums of cash in various currencies, and money counting machines believed to have been used to facilitate the illegal transactions.
According to security sources, the suspects had been operating without the necessary licenses and regulatory approvals, in violation of Ghana’s Minerals and Mining laws.
Authorities say the arrest forms part of an intensified national crackdown on illegal gold trading, which poses a significant threat to the country’s economy and undermines the formal gold export system.
The three suspects are currently in custody and assisting with investigations.
Officials from the Ghana Gold Board have assured the public of their continued commitment to sanitising the gold trading sector and bringing all illegal operators to justice.
Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
