UE/R: Bolga court sentences fetish priest to death for killing wife, daughter

The High Court in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region has sentenced a 37-year-old fetish priest, Mbawona Tindana, to death, for killing his wife.
In 2019, the fetish priest allegedly sacrificed his 25-year-old wife, Talata Abigail Kurug, and 2-year-old daughter Nyapoka Mbawona Tindana, to the gods by killing them.
He beheaded his wife and daughter with an axe after he accused them of witchcraft.
The fetish priest was arraigned and charged with two counts of murder: unlawfully and intentionally causing the death of his wife and daughter.
He was found guilty by a 7-member jury and sentenced to death.
While awaiting the execution of his sentence, he will be incarcerated at the Navrongo Central Prison.
No president has signed a death sentence warrant in Ghana's fourth republican dispensation.
