The leadership of Action People's Party (APP) has commenced construction of its much-touted ‘Agenda 275 Information Communications Technology (ICT) Centers’ across the country.
Sod was cut for the construction of one of the projects at Nkawie-Panin in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of the Ashanti Region, the hometown of the political party's founder.
As part of the party's policies, it has planned to construct ICT centres in all 275 constituencies across the country to improve and encourage ICT education at the basic levels and in the rural areas.
The founder and leader of the party, Mr Kenneth Nana Kwame Asamoah, explained the reason behind the project was to boost the study of ICT in rural areas.
According to him, the world is moving at a faster rate with ICT hence the need for the rural folks to also move in that direction.
For his part, Mr Ernest Atta Gyamfi, who represented the Municipal Education Director, lauded APP and its founder for their commitment to education.
The ICT center, he said, will help improve digital literacy, which is one of the competencies in the education curriculum.
