The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has donated a state-of-the-art public address system to the Ghana School of Law.

This donation fulfills a personal promise made by Speaker Bagbin during the school's matriculation ceremony in February, where newly admitted students were inducted into the two-year professional law degree programme. The donation aims to enhance educational infrastructure within legal institutions.

In his remarks, Speaker Bagbin bemoaned the poor state of the school's facilities, noting the lack of significant government investment over the years despite the school's notable contributions to national development through its graduates.

“It is sad to observe that governments over the years have not done much to improve the infrastructure needs of the school, especially when one considers the great products the institution continues to produce and their contribution to national development,” Speaker Bagbin stated.

He also called on alumni to support their alma mater, emphasising the importance of giving back to improve the institution's infrastructure.

Barima Yaw Kodei Oppong, the Director of the Ghana School of Law, led a delegation of the school’s management to formally receive the equipment. He expressed profound gratitude to the Speaker, highlighting that the donation will significantly elevate educational standards by providing essential tools for future legal practice.

“The donation will significantly improve standards by providing the necessary tools for future legal practice to thrive,” the Director of the school said, also urging other alumni to support the institution in any way possible.

The public address system, which includes advanced speakers and an integrated control system, is expected to greatly enhance auditory quality in lecture halls and during significant events at the school.

This contribution is part of the Speaker’s broader initiative to support educational institutions across the country. Over the past year, he has made several contributions to schools and institutions of higher learning, underscoring his belief in the transformative power of education.
