CMG Media Training Centre starts classes today

Class Media Group’s Media Training Centre has officially been launched.
The Centre started classes for its maiden batch of trainees on Thursday, 17 October 2019 at 10 am.
At the opening ceremony of the Centre, the Group CEO of CMG, Mr Kojo Ackaah-Kwarten said: “Let me clarify that this is not an academic institution, so, it is not a competitor to Wisconsin or AUCC or GIJ or Jayee or any of the schools that offers Communication Studies”.
“The difference is that here you are going to get practical training”, he noted.
The Centre is designed to give young talented individuals who enrol, real and practical media training on which they can rely for any media-related job.
The training, according to Mr Ackaah-Kwarteng, will afford the trainees the opportunity to practicalise what they have been taught in the classroom.
“There are a lot of mushroom schools who don’t have the platforms that we at CMG have, and, therefore, they come disturbing you with an internship for their students. But we do have the platform, so, why don’t we give the students real training ourselves, not theoretical”, he told Benjamin Akakpo on the Executive Breakfast Show (EBS) on Class 91.3FM on Friday, 23 August 2019.
“We have the facilities for training, they will have access to studios and be given the opportunity to try” what they have been taught.
Mr Ackaah-Kwarteng further stated that the training will place premium on polishing of the talents of the trainees.
“The emphasis is not on awards of a certificate,” he said, “but on harnessing the talents of the individuals”. “They will be expected to do projects by the 6th month.”
The Group CEO said the “minimum qualification is a senior high school [certificate], however, if there is anybody with the talent and passion, what we are going to do is to harness those talents.”
The CMG Media Training Centre has experienced media practitioners who are poised to provide students with relevant cutting-edge media education that balances theory and practice.
The Centre offers trainees practical internship programmes after they are done with their theoretical studies.
CMG’s ultra-modern radio and television studios and other media facilities across the country will be available to the trainees immediately they enrol. The curriculum is designed to help them become astute journalists who will help shape society.
The programme of instruction covers Radio Programme Hosting, TV News Hosting, TV Programme Hosting, Camera Handling, Video Editing, Sports Presenting and Hosting, Radio Disc Jockeying and Sound Engineering.
The CMG Media Training Centre is located at Labone, 3rd Dade Walk off the Kweku Baako street, Accra. You can 0302208070 for further enquiries.
