DESA-UEW to march Aug. 18, 19

Education
The leadership of DESA-UEW has, therefore, called on its members to remain calm as it works to resolve the various challenges confronting them

The leadership of DESA-UEW, which is the body of students of the College for Distance and e-Learning (CODeL) of the University of Education, Winneba, has hinted at plans to embark on a peaceful demonstration over challenges confronting its members.

This was contained in a notice to students of the college signed by DESA-UEW National Secretary Delsie Duku, and its National Public Relations Officer (PRO), Eric Addo today, Tuesday, 15 August 2023.

The leadership of DESA-UEW has, therefore, called on its members to remain calm as it works to resolve the various challenges confronting them.

The leadership of DESA-UEW indicated it is working on notable challenges confronting students including: “The failure of the college to send data on Education students awaiting graduation onto the NTC portal on time, therefore, denying greater percentage of the students from participating in the exams; incomplete results of students for the previous academic year which have not been rectified; students not getting modules to read after paying huge sums of money to the institution; delay in publishing of   last semester’s examination results and students not getting their Student ID cards.”

It revealed that it had taken numerous steps by petitioning the Vice-Chancellor of the University on two occasions, as well as the Principal, CODEL, Management and all who matter.

This, the leadership of DESA-UEW noted, has not yielded any results, thus, the agreement by the National Council and respective centre presidents to embark on a peaceful demonstration on Friday, 18 and Saturday, 19 August 2023.

It indicated that it is waiting for approval to embark on the demonstration after writing to the Registrar of the University to seek approval.

It, however, cautioned that if the application to embark on the peaceful demonstration is denied, it will resort to all legal avenues to attract the attention of stakeholders to assist the college in overcoming their challenges.
