The confirmation of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executive (MMDCE) nominees in the Eastern Region continues to gather momentum, with four additional nominees receiving overwhelming endorsements from their respective Assembly Members.

In the Atiwa East District, nominee Ernest Owusu Ntim secured a resounding 100% endorsement from Assembly Members, reinforcing strong local confidence in his leadership.

Similarly, in the Atiwa West District, Johnson Amo also received unanimous approval through a secret ballot. His initial confirmation by popular acclamation was, however, overturned following the intervention of a judge present at the meeting, prompting the subsequent secret vote.

Kwaebibirem Municipality’s nominee, Emmanuel Kofi Nti, popularly known as "Teacher Nti", also sailed through with strong backing.

Out of 57 total votes cast, he secured 55 'Yes' votes, representing 96.5%, with only two votes against.

In his acceptance speech, Teacher Nti expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the trust placed in him.

He pledged to align his work with the government’s 'Reset Agenda' and ensure peace and development in the municipality.

Bringing experience from his previous roles as an Assembly Member and a two-term Presiding Member, he vowed to lead with dedication and competence.

At the Denkyembour District Assembly, nominee  Ahmed Umar Tutu received a unanimous 100% confirmation from Assembly Members, joining the growing list of approved nominees.

These confirmations bring the total number of confirmed MMDCEs in the Eastern Region to eight out of the 33 nominees put forward since the confirmation exercise began earlier this week.

Previous confirmations have already taken place in Kwahu South, Kwahu East, and Nkawkaw.

The confirmation process is being conducted under the supervision of the Electoral Commission.

Eastern Regional Minister,  Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, who witnessed the latest confirmations, reiterated the government’s commitment to the 'Reset Agenda', emphasising that its success begins with competent and committed leadership at the local government level.

She urged Assembly Members across the region to continue supporting President Mahama’s nominees in order to drive grassroots development and promote inclusive governance.
