The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ho Central, Edem Kofi Kpotosu, has demonstrated his commitment to promoting education and empowering young people in his constituency by donating essential items to brilliant but needy students in the Ho Municipality.

Through his MP’s Common Fund, Mr Kpotosu presented 20 mattresses, 20 chop boxes, 20 trunks, and packages containing essential items, to 20 high-achieving yet underprivileged students who excelled in the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The presentation coincided with the International Day of the Girl Child celebration, held at the St. Francis of Assisi RC Church, Ho Depot.

The event was organised in collaboration with the Municipal Education Directorate and featured a debate competition on the topic: 'A pregnant girl child should not be allowed in schools'.

Housing RC Junior High School emerged winners of the debate, which formed part of activities marking the global celebration.

All participating students received certificates, Ewe dictionaries, and other reading materials, while their teachers were each awarded GH₵500 for their dedication and commitment to nurturing the students.

The celebration was held under the overarching theme, 'The Girl I Am and the Change I Need; Girls at the Frontline of Crisis'.

MP Kpotosu, in his remarks, reiterated his dedication to supporting education and promoting gender equality in the Ho Municipality, emphasising that empowering young girls through education remained key to national development.
