MP institutes award scheme for private and public school teachers in Apenkwa and Abeka circuits
Mr. Patrick Boamah, the Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, has launched an award scheme aimed at recognizing and motivating both private and public school teachers within the Constituency.
During a brief media press briefing to unveil the initiative, Mr. Boamah emphasized the importance of acknowledging the hard work and dedication of teachers.
He stated that while providing educational facilities is crucial, it is equally important to ensure that teachers feel appreciated and motivated to give their best.
"The award scheme is a way of expressing gratitude to the teachers for their tireless efforts over the years," Mr. Boamah remarked, highlighting the scheme's inclusivity to encompass teachers from both private and public schools.
Further details about the award scheme will be revealed at a later date, according to Mr. Boamah.
Mrs. Cynthia Abonney, the Municipal Director of Education for Okaikwei North Municipality, expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that it would serve as an inspiration for teachers to excel in their roles. She explained that while the education directorate has previously organized awards for teachers since 2022, circumstances prevented the awards from taking place in 2023. Thus, the support from the MP for the award scheme this year is welcomed by the directorate.
Mrs. Abonney highlighted that the award scheme will be open to teachers in both the Apenkwa and Abeka circuits, as well as private school teachers. She encouraged teachers in these circuits to participate in the nomination process, which will be conducted rigorously to ensure the selection of deserving candidates.
Overall, the launch of the award scheme signals a commitment to recognizing and motivating teachers in the Okaikwei Central Constituency, with the aim of promoting excellence in education within the region.
