Police confirm suicidal death of Mfantsipim student
The Central Regional Police Command has confirmed the death of a 17-year-old final-year student of Mfantsipim School in Cape Coast.
The deceased, identified as Emmanuel Arthur, was found on June 11, 2026, after a report was made to the police.
According to a police statement, officers responded to the report and recovered personal belongings that assisted in establishing the student's identity.
Authorities at Mfantsipim School later confirmed that he was a final-year student of the institution.
Police said the student's parents were informed of the incident, and the body was subsequently released to the family following the necessary medical and police procedures.
The family has since taken custody of the body and proceeded with burial arrangements.
The police stated that investigations have concluded that the student died by suicide.
However, the circumstances that may have contributed to the incident remain under investigation.
The incident has sparked concern among members of the school community and the public.
