The University of Ghana has officially reappointed Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo as its Vice-Chancellor for a second four-year term.
The second four-year term will commence in October 2025.
The decision, hailed as a recognition of her exceptional leadership and remarkable contributions during her first tenure, was unanimously approved by the University’s Governing Council at its meeting on December 19, 2024.
The reappointment follows the submission of a comprehensive report by the Search Party appointed by the Council in October 2024, in line with Sections 13(3) and (26) of the University’s Statutes.
Professor Amfo, who made history as the first female Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, has been widely commended for her transformative initiatives aimed at enhancing academic excellence, student welfare, and institutional governance.
Her leadership during the initial term has been instrumental in positioning the University as a hub of innovation and scholarly advancement, both locally and internationally.
As she prepares to embark on her second term, Professor Amfo is expected to build on the strong foundation laid during her first tenure, driving further growth and fostering excellence within Ghana’s premier university.
