Reopening date for SHS 1 tomorrow – GES

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that the reopening date for first year Senior High School (SHS) students remains unchanged.
First year SHS students who were recently-placed in their schools of choice are to report to their various schools on Monday, 4 December 2024.
However, there have been calls from the pre-tertiary teachers union and the Parent Teacher Association of Ghana for government to postpone the reopening date.
In a statement issued on Saturday, 2 December 2023, the GES noted that: “Schools begin registration and orientation of students from 4th December 2023.”
It indicated that per the academic calendar, there would be “Christmas break on the 21 December 2023 and resume on 3rd January to continue academic work till 5th March 2023”.
It, therefore, urged all students yet to do the self-placement to do so as “quickly as practicable”.
