UE/R: MP organises district-wide quiz competition to ignite STEM passion among students
Dr Clement Apaak, the Member of Parliament for the Builsa South Constituency in the Upper East Region, has collaborated with the District Education Directorate to orchestrate an extensive Science and Maths quiz competition for Junior High Schools (JHS) within the district.
A total of 25 Junior High Schools in the district are set to participate in this week-long competition, each competing for the prestigious trophy.
In an interview with Class 91.3 FM's reporter Moses Apiah, the legislator underscored that the event would be a showcase of intellectual prowess, with students demonstrating their knowledge and problem-solving skills in the realms of Science and Mathematics.
Dr Apaak emphasised that the competition aims not only to promote academic excellence but also to ignite inspiration among the younger generation towards careers in science, engineering, and innovation.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the initiative, Dr Clement Apaak asserted that the quiz competition marks a significant stride in fostering a robust foundation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education.
He stressed the importance of instilling an interest in these subjects from an early age, underlining that STEM skills are imperative for the future success and progress of individuals and the nation as a whole.
The competition, set to last from February 9 to February 16, 2024, reflects Dr Apaak's commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and nurturing the potential of young minds in the Builsa South Constituency.
