The Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) special agents at the U.S. Embassy in Ghana, working closely with Ghanaian law enforcement, have facilitated the extradition of Joseph Badu Boateng—also known as Dada Joe Remix—to the United States.

Mr Boateng faces multiple charges in the U.S. related to his alleged involvement in a transnational fraud ring responsible for orchestrating romance and inheritance scams.

The scheme is believed to have defrauded numerous American victims of several million dollars.

Authorities say the successful extradition was the result of a joint operation between U.S. and Ghanaian security agencies, underlining the growing cooperation between both nations in tackling cyber-enabled financial crimes.

Mr Boateng is currently in the United States and is expected to stand trial in the coming days.

The case underscores the continued efforts of Ghana and the United States to combat internet-based scams and hold perpetrators of international fraud accountable.
