UTAG to call off strike

The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has agreed to call off its 5-week-long strike.
The association agreed to the compromise on Thursday, 17 February 2022 following a meeting with the Education Committee of Parliament and the National Labour Commission (NLC).
The university teachers have not returned to the classroom despite the NLC's injunction that was secured on their ongoing strike.
The injunction application was granted by the Labour Division of the Accra High Court today, Tuesday, 15 February 2022.
The court, presided over by Justice Frank Aboadwe Rockson, halted the strike.
UTAG has been on strike demanding better conditions of service.
The University lecturers have accused the government and the NLC of not having the interest of the university teachers at heart.
