Residents of Korsive in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region are appealing to their Member of Parliament and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa, to urgently intervene in the dire state of the Korsive Primary School, where pupils are forced to study under trees and makeshift palm sheds due to inadequate infrastructure.

According to the community, pupils from Classes 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 have been without proper classrooms for years, making teaching and learning extremely difficult and unsafe.

Speaking to Accra FM/CTV News reporter Apelete Kofi-Michel, Chairman of the School Management Committee (SMC), Oscar Gakpo, described the situation as a major threat to education in the area.

He revealed that wild animals, including snakes, have often fallen from trees during lessons, forcing terrified children to flee for safety.

"This is a community represented by a prominent national figure.

It is disheartening that our children are still learning under trees in this day and age," Mr. Gakpo lamented.

He called on Mr. Ablakwa to prioritise the construction of proper classroom blocks and toilet facilities to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment for the pupils.

Echoing his concerns, a parent, Edith Gakpe, said the community has taken it upon itself to start putting up a structure for the affected pupils, but lacks the resources to complete the project.

She appealed to the MP and the government for urgent support to complete the building and restore dignity to basic education in Korsive.
