WAEC releases final timetable for 2024 WASSCE
The West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC) has published the final timetable for the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates.
The exams will commence with various projects and practicals starting on Monday, 5 August 2024, and Monday, 12 August 2024, respectively.
The English Oral Examinations are scheduled for Wednesday, 21 August 2024, with the entire examination period concluding on Friday, 20 September 2024.
In the announcement, WAEC clarified protocol for discrepancies in exam durations, stating: “where the duration indicated on the question paper differs from that on the timetable, the one on the question paper should be followed.”
Additionally, WAEC provided details on the advance distribution of certain question papers, including General Knowledge-In-Art Paper 3 and various project work papers.
“The question paper for General Knowledge-In-Art 3 will be given to candidates two weeks before the paper is due to be taken,” WAEC stated.
Question papers for project work in Basketry, Graphic Design, Leatherwork, Ceramics, Sculpture, Picture Making, Textiles, and Jewellery will be forwarded to candidates two weeks in advance.
“The exact date for the delivery of question papers to candidates will be communicated to them through their schools,” WAEC added.
The council also ensured provisions for candidates with visual and hearing impairments, stating: “visually impaired and hearing impaired candidates should be allowed one and a half times the time allotted to other candidates.”
