Ghana will begin a three-day series of funeral ceremonies on Thursday, July 30, 2026, in honor of the renowned inventor, industrialist, and founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission, Apostle Kwadwo Safo, who will be laid to rest.

According to the funeral arrangements released by the Head of the Kantanka Family, Sarah Adwoa Safo, in coordination with the Kristo Asafo Mission and the Funeral Planning Committee, the burial service is scheduled to take place at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region.

Following the burial, a national farewell ceremony will be held at Independence Square in Accra on Friday, July 31, 2026.

The event is expected to bring together dignitaries, traditional leaders, church members, industrialists, and admirers from across the country and abroad.

The final funeral rites will conclude on Saturday, August 1, 2026, with a thanksgiving service at Jackson Park in Kumasi to celebrate his life and legacy.

Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as Kantanka, was widely recognised as a pioneering African inventor and spiritual leader who advocated for indigenous innovation and self-reliance.

He founded the Kristo Asafo Mission in 1971 and later established the Kantanka Group, which became a prominent symbol of local industrialization through its work in automobile manufacturing, engineering, and technology development.

Through Kantanka Automobile, he earned recognition for producing locally made vehicles tailored for African conditions, alongside various advancements in agriculture, electronics, and machinery that were showcased at his annual exhibitions.

In addition to his technological and industrial achievements, Apostle Safo was well known for his extensive philanthropic work through his church and business group, which supported education, healthcare, employment creation, and skills development for thousands of Ghanaians.

As preparations intensify for his final farewell, tributes continue to come in from various quarters, describing him as a symbol of African ingenuity and resilience.
