Police receive 160 pickups, 50 armoured vehicles in government logistics boost
The Ghana Police Service has received 160 pickup vehicles and 50 armoured vehicles to strengthen its operational capacity, Interior Minister Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka has announced.
Addressing officials during Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang's visit to the Ministry of the Interior, the minister said the security services have witnessed a significant improvement in logistics over the past year.
He said the Ghana Prisons Service (GPS) has also received 25 pickup vehicles and three buses, while the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has been provided with 20 pickups.
According to him, the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has received 25 pickup vehicles, while the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has been equipped with 22 operational vehicles after going nearly a decade without receiving logistical support.
"In terms of equipment and logistics, I don't think the services have seen any massive improvement in logistics at any time like this time," the minister said.
He noted that the additional equipment is intended to strengthen the operational capacity of the various security agencies.
