A/R: Fire consumes 11 of 14 rooms of Tafo Ahenbronum home

General News
The inferno began from one of the rooms used for producing herbal medicine

Some eleven out of 14 bedrooms were ravaged when fire swept through a compound house at Tafo Ahenbronum in the Old Tafo Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, 5 January 2022.

The inferno began from one of the rooms used as a production house for herbal medicine and spread to the other rooms.

Firefighters said they were able to swiftly put out the fire.

The inferno destroyed property including a cash amount of USD2,150, which was kept in the room by the herbalist and landlord.

There were no casualties.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

Speaking to Class91.3FM's Ashanti regional correspondent Elisha Adarkwah, Breman Fire Station Officer ADOII Okyere Mensah, revealed that investigations have commenced into the cause of the fire.

"We were able to salvage some personal belongings like room furniture and other items”.

"We're advising the public to be very very careful about the way we use fire. We're still investigating the cause of the fire," he said.

He also cautioned the public to be fire-vigilant due to the prevailing weather conditions.

"We should be very careful about the way we use electrical gadgets as well because the weather is very dry."

The landlord, Mr Samuel Oduro Brobbey, noted that although he has lost a lot of property, he was not greatly disturbed so far as life was not lost in the blaze.

"Life is very very precious; when you're alive, everything can operate. I'm not greatly disturbed; not that I have a lot but if I consider the implication of death, it's OK," he noted.
