A/R: Fire displaces over 200 scrap dealers, kayayei at Dagombaline

Fire has gutted wooden structures which serve as places of abode for itinerant porters (Kayayei) and scrap dealers at Dagombaline, a slum area in the Kumasi metropolis of the Ashanti Region.
The structures were completely razed.
About 200 female potters and scrap dealers have been displaced.
The fire began in the evening of Friday, 14 February 2020.
Firefighters were on the scene to quench the inferno but the unplanned nature of the area made it difficult for them to gain access.
The cause of the fire is not readily known.
