Beware of risks of deceptive citizen offers in conflict areas – Foreign Ministry to travellers
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has cautioned the travelling public regarding the activities of middlemen and agents who falsely claim to facilitate citizenship, resident permits, and job opportunities in conflict areas and countries at war.
In a travel advisory dated Monday, 25 March 2024, the Ministry emphasised the perilous nature of such journeys and the potentially dire consequences they entail.
“In light of ongoing conflicts and the risk of conscription in certain countries or regions around the world, travelers are strongly advised to exercise caution and carefully consider their travel plans,” the Ministry advised.
The Ministry urged travelers to prioritise their safety and well-being, particularly when offered job opportunities in regions with potential risks of conscription and armed conflict.
“By staying informed, exercising caution, and taking proactive measures, individuals can reduce the likelihood of being conscripted into military service while travelling in conflict areas.”
The Ministry also reassured the traveling Ghanaian public of its commitment to their “safety.”
