C/R: Fuel tanker overturns on Cape Coast-Takoradi highway

A fuel tanker has overturned on the Cape Coast-Takoradi highway about 100 metres before the east gate of the University of Cape Coast (UCC).
The incident occurred on the evening of Sunday, 28 July 2024.
This led to the spillage of fuel onto the roadway and creating significant hazards for both pedestrians and motorists.
The cause of the accident remains unclear, but the spillage made the highway dangerously slippery.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing individuals risking their lives to collect the spilled fuel with gallons, further heightening the danger at the scene.
Emergency services responded promptly to manage the situation.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana Police Service were quickly on site, standing by to prevent any potential disasters.
Police officers efficiently diverted traffic away from the affected area to avoid additional accidents and ensure the safety of commuters.
