CDS promotes soldier for rejecting bribe from illegal miners

The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General William Agyapong, has promoted Private Teye-Tsu Asare Solomon to the rank of Lance Corporal in recognition of his integrity and professionalism.
The promotion was announced during an all-ranks durbar held at Burma Hall on Friday, July 11, 2025.
It comes in the wake of L/Cpl Teye-Tsu’s exemplary conduct during an official deployment to guard the Bibiani Gold Mines in the Western Region.
While on duty, L/Cpl Teye-Tsu encountered a group of artisanal miners who attempted to bribe him with a substantial sum in exchange for access to the restricted mining site.
He refused the bribe and promptly handed the individuals over to the appropriate authorities, upholding the highest standards of military discipline and accountability.
In addition to his promotion, L/Cpl Teye-Tsu has been nominated for a United Nations peace-keeping mission with the Interim Force in Lebanon, among other commendations.
Presenting the rewards, the CDS applauded the young soldier’s conduct, urging all personnel to remain loyal to their oath and the state.
He emphasised that while acts of misconduct would be punished, acts of professionalism and integrity—like those displayed by L/Cpl Teye-Tsu—would be recognised and rewarded accordingly.
