COVID-19: Akufo-Addo extends social gathering ban by 2 weeks
The government has extended the ban on all public and social gatherings by an additional two weeks to help people observe social-distancing as part of measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
This was announced by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in a televised address to the nation on Sunday, 26 April 2020.
This means, no church and mosque services, festivals, parties, weddings, sports and all activities that involve the gathering of people for the next two weeks.
"I’ve, accordingly, by executive instrument, extended for another two weeks, the suspension of all public and social gatherings, as set out in E.I.65 of 15 March 2020 effective Monday, 27 April 2020", the President said in his 8th address on the COVID-19 situation on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s COVID-19 cases have increased to 1,550 up by 271 more cases.
Also, one more person has succumbed, bringing the number of deaths to eleven while 21 more persons have recovered.
Of the 271 new cases, 75 were detected through routine surveillance and 196 through enhanced contact-tracing.
So far, a total of 100,622 tests have been across the country by the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research and the Kumasi Center for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine.
