COVID-19: Lebanese Community, Melcom, donate GHS2. 2m to gov’t
The Lebanese community in Ghana has presented a cheque for GHS2,150,000.00 to the government’s COVID-19 National Trust Fund.
A five-member delegation led by the Ambassador of Lebanon to Ghana, Ambassador Maher El Heir, presented the cheque to Ghana’s Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, Akosua Frema Osei Opare at the Jubilee House.
Mr Maher El Heir, in a brief statement, said their community has been extremely impressed by the level of commitment the government has demonstrated in its quest to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
He added that they are ready to assist the administration of President Akufo-Addo to fight and win the war against COVID-19.
For her part, the Chief of Staff said the relationship between Ghanaians and the Lebanese community has been reaffirmed by the gesture.
At the same ceremony, officials of Melcom Ghana Limited, led by Mr Francis Sam and Sonya Sadhwann, also donated GHS100,000 to the fund.
