Citi FM raid: Remove ‘coward’ Affail Monney for ‘betraying’ GJA – ASEPA
The Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA) is demanding the removal of the President of the Ghana Journalist Association, Mr Affail Monney, from office for saying Citi FM journalist Caleb Kudah breached the code of ethics of the profession by secretly recording some grounded MASLOC vehicles at the premises of National Security Ministry.
Mr Kudah was caught in the act, arrested and, according to his own account of events, slapped, pushed and kicked by the security operatives who accosted him.
In a statement, however, ASEPA said it considers Mr Monney’s comment as a “betrayal” of the GJA.
“We believe Mr Monney cannot continue to hold himself as the President of the GJA after such reckless display of not just cowardice but individualism, and failing to uphold the interests of all journalists in the country”.
“We are, therefore, calling for the immediate removal of Mr Affail Monney as GJA president”, ASEPA demanded.
“This is the only way the GJA can distance itself from the comments of Mr. Monney and show solidarity to their compatriots”, the statement signed by Executive Director Mensah Thompson said.
