Soldier killed over land occurred at Millennium City not Kasoa – Residents angered over bad name
Concerned Residents of Kasoa in the Central Region have voiced dissatisfaction with security agencies, urging them to accurately distinguish between the Awutu Senya East and Gomoa East jurisdictions.
Mr Akwasi Addo, convener of the group, emphasised that Kasoa should not be conflated with the Millennium City area, also known as Gomoa Bantaama.
He expressed concern that if security agencies responsible for intelligence gathering fail to differentiate between the two areas, it reflects poorly on their competence.
According to him, Kasoa and Millennium City are distinct areas with separate paramountcies in the Central Region.
He found it disheartening that the police would incorrectly refer to the area as Kasoa when the incident occurred in Millennium City.
Mr Addo clarified this stance while responding to statements made by the Ghana Armed Forces and the Ministry of National Security regarding the recent murder of a serving army officer by a landguard over the weekend. The incident occurred in the Gomoa East Constituency, not in Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East.
Speaking on the Ghana Yensom morning show hosted by Kaayire Kwesi Apea-Apreku on Thursday, April 2, 2024, Mr Addo criticised the security agencies, particularly the Central East Police Regional Command, for their lack of proactive measures.
He accused them of sensationalism by erroneously referring to the incident location as Kasoa when it actually took place in Gomoa East.
