Cop killed in multi-vehicle crash at Winneba-Kasoa checkpoint
A tragic incident occurred overnight at Kantanka Junction along the Winneba-Kasoa highway, resulting in the death of a police officer stationed at the checkpoint.
The fatal accident involved three vehicles: a Kia truck (registration number GR-6419-N), a trailer (registration number GE-5468-22), and a fuel tanker (registration number GY-2186-13).
According to information gathered at the scene, the Kia truck was traveling towards Mankessim Road when it crashed into a police barricade. This collision caused the truck to hit a trailer and a fuel tanker that had been parked nearby. The impact of the multiple collisions caused the vehicles to veer out of control and tragically run over the police officer.
Eyewitnesses reported that the series of crashes began when the Kia truck lost control and struck the other vehicles, leading to the devastating accident that claimed the life of the officer.
