Covid-19: Prosecute organisers of 'Pneumatica night' to serve as deterrent – GMA

The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has appealed to the Attorney General and the police to punish the organisers of Christ Embassy’s ‘Pneumatica Night 2021’ conference.

The Christ Embassy Church held a mammoth prayer conference on 30 April 2021 at the Fantasy Dome, Trade Fair in Accra.

Videos and pictures circulated on social media showed a large number of people who were not adhering to the COVID-19 protocols.

A statement issued by the GMA on 4 May 2021 indicated that “The videos and pictures from this church event defy all logic especially during this crucial time of the Covid-19 pandemic. This activity clearly goes contrary to all laid down Covid-19 prevention protocols and laws by government”.

According to the statement, “this action on the part of the organisers and attendees of the said church event clearly defeats all efforts being made to combat COVID-19 and the prevention of a possible third wave in the country.

“It is also an indirect threat to the life of all, especially, medical doctors and other health workers who will be expected to care for any COVID-19 infections arising out of this event,” the statement added.
