Be truthful on dumsor: Omane Boamah to Napo

The recent resurgence of power outages, commonly known as dumsor, has sparked public outrage and accusations of deceit and incompetence against the Akufo-Addo Bawumia government.

Ghanaians are questioning the government's transparency regarding the true causes of the outages and demanding accountability for the situation.

Critics argue that the current administration has failed to provide a truthful explanation for the ongoing power cuts, despite claims by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) that transformer issues are not the root cause of the problem.

The Director of Elections and IT of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Edward Omane Boamah in a statement questioned the cause of the recent power outages in the country.

"This lack of clarity has led to widespread scepticism among the population.

Many citizens are pointing to the investments made by the previous government led by John Dramani Mahama, including the establishment of additional power generation plants such as the Ameri thermal plant," he said.

He questioned why, despite these efforts, Ghana was experiencing power shortages once again.

Moreover, "there are accusations against the government for misleading the public about payments for excess power and shifting blame onto the previous administration.

He argued that if there truly was excess power, as claimed by the government, then why are homes and businesses experiencing outages?" he asked.

In light of these developments, some individuals have likened the situation to "power diabetes," where there is an abundance of power resources, but homes and businesses are still facing power shortages. This analogy highlights the frustration and confusion among Ghanaians regarding the current state of the power sector.

Overall, the resurgence of dumsor has reignited public discontent and raised questions about the government's handling of the power supply situation, prompting calls for transparency, accountability, and effective solutions to address the ongoing challenges.
