Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has expressed deep pride in the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) for their unwavering commitment to defending the nation by land, sea, and air—even at the risk of their lives.

According to Dr. Boamah, the discipline and professionalism displayed by the military in the execution of their duties are a testament to the strength of Ghana’s democracy and a clear indication that democratic governance remains the best path for national development.

“Our gallant men and women in uniform continue to prove that democracy is the most viable option for building a prosperous Ghana,” he said.

The Minister made this remark in a statement posted on his Facebook wall some hours ago.

The Defence Minister also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to restoring economic stability and advancing development under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, who also serves as Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces.

“The President and his team are steadily resetting Ghana and working to fix the economy for the shared prosperity of all,” Dr. Boamah noted.

He urged citizens to emulate the patriotic mindset, discipline, and service of the Armed Forces, encouraging national unity and civic responsibility.

In a strong cautionary note, the Minister warned against a resurgence of illegal mining activities, especially in forest reserves and around water bodies.

“Let me add—do not return to the forest reserves and water bodies for galamsey.

A word to the wise is enough,” he stressed.

Dr. Boamah’s remarks come amid ongoing national efforts to clamp down on illegal mining and environmental degradation, as well as promote peace and national development.
