E/R: Fetish priest arrested after machete attack on ex-lover

A local fetish priest identified as Togbe Gadefia has been apprehended by the Asamankese Police in the Lower West Akim Municipality.
The fetish priest stands accused of launching a violent machete attack on his former partner, Rakia Huseini.
The incident occurred on the evening of Monday, 11 September 2023, when the fetish priest allegedly ambushed his ex as she was making her way home from work and inflicted deep machete wounds on her knee and attempted to strike her head.
Ms Huseini managed to shield herself by using her hands, though the attack resulted in the amputation of her forearm.
Some residents who discovered the victim in a pool of blood quickly rushed her to the Asamankese Government Hospital for immediate medical attention.
Subsequently, she was transferred to the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua, where she underwent critical surgery to address her injuries.
The fetish priest, however, reported himself to police and accompanied investigators to the scene of the crime.
He is currently in police custody, awaiting impending court proceedings.
The motive behind the attack remains uncertain, though sources have suggested that the fetish priest may have been motivated by jealousy or anger, possibly stemming from his ex’s reported plans to marry another man.
