E/R: Seven firefighters injured in accident at Adankrono

A fire engine responding to an emergency call in the Eastern Region was involved in a serious accident on Sunday, 22 July 2024, resulting in injuries to seven firefighters.
The incident occurred at Adankrono as the crew was heading to Otwenkwanta to address a fuel tanker that had veered off the road.
The emergency call was received at approximately 8:37 AM, and the firefighters were dispatched immediately.
However, as they navigated a curve near the Gaso filling station, their fire engine, registered as FS 438, was involved in an accident.
Preliminary investigations by the Ghana National Fire Service suggest a steering lock issue may have caused the crash.
At the time, eight firefighters were on board, with one escaping injury.
The injured personnel were rushed to two hospitals for treatment. Five firefighters were taken to St. Dominic Hospital in Akwatia, while the driver and the duty officer were transported to Kade Government Hospital.
All seven injured firefighters are reported to be in stable condition and responding well to treatment.
