EC rectifies error in voter registration infographics following Omane Boamah’s criticisms

The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has issued a correction to the infographics they released for updating the public on the ongoing limited voter registration exercise.
This correction comes after the Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, identified inconsistencies in the graphs provided for the Greater Accra and Upper East regions.
Dr. Boamah highlighted the discrepancies by sharing the previous graphics, noting that both regions were reported to have 981 challenges filed against the eligibility of voters.
However, the bar graph representing the Greater Accra region was significantly taller than that of the Upper East region.
“The Electoral Commission of Ghana: These elementary errors are unacceptable!” Dr. Boamah criticised in his statement.
In response, the EC acknowledged the mistake in a new post on its Facebook page, admitting that the figure for Greater Accra, 981, had been erroneously repeated for the Upper East Region.
“The Commission has today met with the team responsible for developing the infographics and made significant changes,” the EC stated.
Despite this error, the EC maintained that all other information provided in the graphics was accurate.
The Commission assured the public that they will adopt more rigorous methods to prevent such errors in the future.
