ECG making GHS40-50 million daily on mobilisation exercise – MD

Managing Director (MD) of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Samuel Dubik Mahama, has said the power distributing company’s current nationwide revenue mobilisation exercise will not be a one-day wonder.
According to the ECG MD, the ongoing revenue mobilisation exercise is yielding results.
Speaking on Accra 100.5 FM’s Citizen Show on Wednesday, 22 March 2023, the ECG MD disclosed that the company currently is able to retrieve between GHS40 to GHS50 million daily since the exercise began.
“GHS40 to 50 million a day, yes, and it’s encouraging, it’s beautiful,” he told show host Bobie Ansah.
Expressing satisfaction with the exercise so far, he appealed to Ghanaians to fulfill their financial obligations to the company.
“Please assist us, help us by paying your bills. Let’s all pay our bills,” the ECG boss appealed.
He noted that the company cannot go about borrowing money to ensure continuity of its operations while it has monies with customers who owe electricity bills.
“Borrowing is out. We can’t go about borrowing while we have money sitting with people, that is out,” the ECG MD stressed.
He added that: “It [the revenue mobilisation exercise] won’t be a-one-off thing.”
Again, the ECG MD said: “Administratively, why am I sitting there in the office? What am I doing sitting in the office? I need to pay bills for the AC I use in the office. I need to pay bills for it so, no, this exercise will not just be a one-off thing. Nobody can say we are dancing around the issue. Everyone needs to pay their bill.”
